GREGORY DAVID KING

Gregory’s first film, POP, (Writer/DOP/Director) - 1999, won the MOST OUSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN A VIDEO PRODUCTION at the Melbourne International Film Festival. The festival hailed POP as the most extraordinary film at MIFF this year. As we stand before the precipice of the next century, the film poignantly throws into question the definition of cinema itself.

Since then Gregory has gone on to write and write & direct short and feature-length films, including:

After taking a break from the industry for several years, 2021 saw the International release of the feature, THE JUSTICE OF BUNNY KING, directed by Gaysorn Thavat and starring Essie Davis, for which Gregory created STORY and SCRIPT. Festival selections include TRIBECA, BFI LONDON, EDINBURGH, & SYDNEY, with national cinema releases in Aotearoa-New Zealand, and Australia.

As a creative Gregory has an international focus, based between Berlin, Germany, and Aotearoa-New Zealand, and is currently developing an international slate of projects including the Horror feature TANIWHA, the Crime-Thriller HOLES, and the epic Adventure-Romance series MANA AKE.

Since training with consultant Franz Rodenkirchen in 2010 Gregory has gone on to work as a DRAMATURG and CONSULTANT with artists, writers, directors, and producers on a wide range of projects.

2021 also saw the release of the acclaimed, much-loved, documentary JAMES & ISEY, on which Gregory worked closely with the director Florian Habicht as NARRATIVE CONSULTANT.
